The EC - Declaration of ConformityIn order to export your products to Europe you need to compose a so-called
EC- Declaration of Conformity
in which you make the required statement of conformity of your product, according to the "EC-compliance route type A" , also called Self-declaration route. The Declaration of Conformity should be available to the authorities at the point of entry on the European Market. This means that it should be signed by your European representative if your company resides outside the EC. It's main purpose is to show proof of liability for compliance with EC regulations involved to the authorities and customs.
It should contain all the necessary information to determine:
- who you are,
- what product it refers to,
- what directives are involved
,
- what standards are applicable,
- where test results can be found,
- who is responsible in your company.
In the EN 450014 and ISO 25 series of standards detailed descriptions of such a statement can be found. Unnecessary to tell you that missing or incomplete information may have serious consequences. Every detail must be verified, and the exact formulation should cover all legal aspects.
